The house

Situated in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Southern Vendée Bocage, La Frelonnière is a superbly restored 18th Century house.

Since Julie and Rick first opened their home to guests in 2003 they have rapidly gained a deserved reputation for the warmth of their hospitality, the quality of the accommodation and, should you be lucky enough to sample the table d’hôtes, Julie’s innovative cooking!

La Frelonnière is ideally placed for you to make the most of your stay – however long. Centrally located for many local attractions, whether the sophistication of La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré, the timeless charm of the Marais Poitevin or the wide sandy beaches of the Vendée coast, the Puy du Fou, to say nothing of the treasure trove of Romanesque Churches and Abbeys which are yours to discover.

Pool and gardens

Alternatively you could just relax by the pool… surrounded by Lavender, Lemon and Olive trees and a ‘rideau’ of pleached Lime trees.

The imaginative gardens, which of course are also yours to enjoy, were created from scratch from the surrounding fields and each part has its own inimitable style and atmosphere. The vegetable garden and orchard provide some vegetables, fruit and herbs for the kitchen.
